I tried Windows Server 2019 with FMS 19 trial now, still no luck. Stage 3 Once we are completely cut over to FM13 then after a week or two I will uninstall FM11 from all users computers using the WMIC GPO discussed here.It won't open at all. I already have a FM13 server in place with converted versions of my dbs but they are just for test since they are basically frozen at the time I converted them. As that is happening I will convert my current FM11 dbs over to the newer format, move them to my FM13 server, and turn off my FM11 server. Stage 2 Once the cutover date has been established then I will push the new FM13 starter solution to all the desktops, remove the old FM11 starter solution from the desktops, turn off the FM11 program shortcut to desktop and replace it with a FM13 program shortcut. Stage 1 Install FM13 Client and push FM11 Shortcut to Desktop, users will have both versions but only be using FM11. My plan (still tentative now) sounds like it will be similar to yours. But I will probably have to do what you did too just in case. We use a Starter Solution for opening FM that is already on everyone's desktop so I don't have many user (if any) that will be opening FM directly so hopefully the program shortcut wont be an issue. I set up my assisted install txt file to not do a shortcut on the desktop so it leaves that one off at least. I noticed the shortcut was replaced in the Start Menu with FM13. The command took a bit to get through everyone because it goes sequentially, down the computer list. I actually used the following command that referenced a txt file with all the computer names in it because I needed to do it during business hours and without having users reboot. and your specified program will be uninstalled automatically, without you even seeing the uninstall program. Wmic product where name="windows live writer" call uninstall Then enter the name as it appears in that list, in a second command, like this: and look for the name of the program you'd like to remove. Use the appropriate CALL command and it can also carry out a variety of useful maintenance tasks.ĭo you regularly have to uninstall and reinstall particular programs, for instance? Doing this manually via Control Panel is tedious, but WMIC can automatically uninstall many applications with a single command. WMIC isn't just about reporting on system information, though. You can create a batch file for it to run then set it as a startup script.
